Read moreIt might not feel like you’re using very many muscles when you are just simply standing. But actually muscles all over our bodies are working hard to keep us in that upright position. One of the muscle groups that contribute to extending our spine and maintaining our upright posture during standing are the paired erector spinae muscles.
From lateral to medial, the erector spinae muscle group is made up of three paired muscles: the Iliocostalis muscles, the Longissimus muscles, and the Spinalis muscles which we can see here.
Not exactly the easiest muscle names to remember!.. But if you forget all you have to do is remember ‘I Like Standing’. So simple.
