Alessio Gallina, PT, PhD

Alessio graduated in Physiotherapy at the Universita' di Torino (Italy) in 2009, and obtained his PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of British Columbia (Canada) in 2018.

While working in Italy, Canada, and the United Kingdom, Alessio published more than 50 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, mainly on topics related to rehabilitation, neurophysiology of movement, and pain. His research received international recognition, such as the Emerging Scientist Award awarded by the International Society of Biomechanics in 2017.

Alessio developed educational resources focused on using smartphone sensors to assess human motion, an interactive approach that provides students with practical, first-hand experience of data collection and analysis. This was the main topic of the final project of his postgraduate certificate in higher education at the University of Birmingham, which granted him the status of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
